Introduction

In line with the ambitious transformation taking place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under Vision 2030, the University of Tabuk is committed to strengthening its role in preparing a generation of students capable of competing globally by enhancing their academic and cultural competencies. In this context, the Student Exchange Program has been introduced as a strategic initiative that provides students with opportunities to study at distinguished international universities, thereby enriching their academic and cultural experiences, strengthening their innovative capabilities, and enabling them to engage with diverse educational environments.

The program aligns with the University of Tabuk’s Third Strategic Plan, which places academic excellence and international collaboration among its key priorities. Through this initiative, the University seeks to expand global partnerships, provide an integrated learning environment that fosters innovation and cross-cultural engagement, and elevate the quality of its graduates to contribute effectively to sustainable development.

The proposed Executive Rules for the program have been submitted to the University Council and are currently awaiting formal approval. The proposal outlines the mechanisms for implementing the Student Exchange Program within the University and defines the responsibilities of the supporting deanships and relevant colleges.

Accordingly, a proposal has been submitted outlining the mechanism for implementing the program in coordination with the Ministry of Education, including procedures for disbursing financial entitlements to participating students and incoming exchange students.

Criteria for Selecting Universities for Student Exchange Program Partnerships

Eligibility Requirements for the Student Exchange Program

Outgoing Students

Students nominated to participate in the Student Exchange Program at partner universities must meet the following requirements:

The academic program must be formally accredited.
There must be at least one active student exchange agreement covering the applicant’s academic program.
The student must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours and no more than 90 credit hours at the time of application, or have completed at least the first academic year and no more than the third academic year. This requirement does not apply to programs with a duration exceeding four years, such as health-related disciplines.
The applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75 out of 5.00 (Very Good) at the time of application. Exceptions may be made for students with outstanding extracurricular achievements, including participation in student clubs, volunteer work, community service, or recipients of local and international awards.
The student must provide proof of registration for an English language proficiency test at the minimum level required by the academic discipline and the host institution. Any associated costs shall be the responsibility of the student and not the University of Tabuk.
The student must not have previously received University funding for other international opportunities, such as cooperative training, summer training, or international study trips, in order to provide international learning opportunities to the largest possible number of students.
The student must submit an official academic record demonstrating a clean disciplinary history, free from any academic or non-academic violations during their studies at their home institution.

Incoming Students

Students nominated to participate in the Student Exchange Program at the University of Tabuk must meet the following requirements:

The applicant’s academic program must be recognized and academically approved by the University of Tabuk.
There must be a valid and active student exchange agreement covering the incoming student’s academic program.
The student must have completed at least 30 credit hours or successfully completed the first academic year at the time of application.
The applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0, or an equivalent academic standing of at least “Good High” at the time of application.
Students whose native language is not English must provide proof of registration for an English language proficiency test at the level required by their academic discipline and the academic program at the University of Tabuk. Students applying to humanities programs, such as Islamic Studies, Arabic Language, and Cultural Studies, must pass an Arabic language proficiency test in accordance with University requirements.
The student must submit an official nomination letter from their home university confirming their nomination to participate in the study-abroad program.
