What if a single idea, born quietly, had the power to reshape your entire university journey?
Even before entering university, I had always been someone who enjoyed taking initiative and creating meaningful impact. I arrived on campus certain that I would find a place where I could contribute, innovate, and grow. Yet, contrary to my expectations, that space was not immediately visible. From my very first week, I began searching. I kept asking myself: Where can I bring my ideas to life? Where can I find an environment that embraces ambition? Then, in my third week, an email changed everything. It was an invitation to join the university podcast. Without hesitation, I applied—driven by curiosity and hope—and there I found exactly what I had been looking for.
The podcast became the true starting point of my journey, and in many ways, a milestone for student activities themselves. It led to one of the first achievements officially associated with student activities and was later nominated at student activities forums. More importantly, I found not only a platform for creativity, but also remarkable people—including a dear friend who remains close to my heart to this day.
From there, the journey expanded through podcasts, projects, programs, and student clubs. Most of these experiences took place remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, but passion was never limited by distance.
One of the defining milestones came with the launch of the university's first hackathon. I joined the organizing team, bringing previous hackathon experience with me. It was a demanding yet deeply rewarding experience that equipped me with new skills, practical expertise, and a level of professional maturity I had never expected. By then, my name had become increasingly recognized within the student activities community. Following the restructuring of the Deanship, I was nominated to lead what was then known as the Planning Department. That role became a turning point. Through planning, organizing, and leading initiatives, I discovered a purpose that I had never imagined. Eventually, however, I reached a point where I had to step away from student activities. The demands of studying Medicine and Surgery required my full attention. I took time to reorganize my priorities, reflect on my journey, and revisit the memories that had shaped me—from recording my first podcast episode to proposing my first initiative and attending my first meeting with the Dean. Then came a phone call I will always be grateful for. Dr. Mohammed Daouri, Dean of Student Affairs, invited me to return. The invitation came at exactly the right moment.
I returned stronger, more mature, and with a clearer vision than ever before. If there is one lesson I would share with anyone walking this path, it is this: if you ever feel overwhelmed by student activities, do not hesitate to pause, regain your balance, and return with renewed purpose—but never abandon the journey completely.
After returning, I immersed myself once again in projects, student clubs, meetings, and countless late nights spent with colleagues in the small room that became home to so many dreams. One of the most unforgettable moments came when we were asked to present the concept of the Student Activities Departments directly to the university president. After days of preparation, we stood before the leadership with confidence, sharing ideas we genuinely believed could make a difference.
Throughout my years in medical school, I watched many students join and leave student activities. While most members spend around three years in this environment, I was fortunate enough to remain for six years. Over time, I realized that I had reached a stage where it was time to transform my experiences into an even broader impact. I began contributing to external initiatives and community projects, sharing what I had learned with others who had not been given the same opportunities.
Eventually, I became a Planning and Quality Management Advisor for student activities, mentoring others and helping them navigate the journey I once began myself. As I write these words, I may be living the final chapter of this remarkable experience. My mind is filled with memories—people, moments, mentors, and opportunities that shaped me into a better version of myself.
To everyone seeking to make a meaningful impact: do not wait for opportunities—create them. Search for them with determination, take initiative without hesitation, and keep moving forward. Challenges are inevitable, but perseverance is what truly makes the difference. Keep your intentions sincere, place your trust in God, and dedicate yourself wholeheartedly to every endeavor. You will find that, no matter how long the road may seem, it leads to a future filled with possibility.
Above all, I thank God for blessing my university journey with such an extraordinary environment—one that refined me, challenged me, and helped me become a better version of myself every single time.
