NAVEED AHMED
Dr. Naveed Ahmed is a Chartered Scientist (CSci) recognized by the Science Council and a Senior Specialist in Microbiology accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. Currently based at the University of Tabuk, he brings a strong interdisciplinary background in infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), immunopathology, and molecular epidemiology. He also holds professional recognition as a Technologist from the Malaysia Board of Technologists.
Dr. Ahmed is an active contributor to global health research with international collaborations, supporting high-impact, data-driven studies addressing critical public health challenges. His professional affiliations include membership in ISARIC and fellowship with The Global Health Network, reflecting his commitment to collaborative, evidence-based science.
He holds a PhD in Medical Microbiology, where his research focused on Epstein–Barr virus pathogenesis, particularly the role of LMP1 mutations. His broader research portfolio spans antimicrobial resistance, microbial ecology, cancer immunology, cytokine profiling, and nanobiotechnology, including the development of plant-derived nanoparticles for therapeutic applications. Through his leadership in the Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases Research Group, Dr. Ahmed continues to advance interdisciplinary research aimed at addressing emerging and persistent global health threats.
Dr. Ahmed has received multiple academic honors for research excellence, including the Graduate on Time Award and a nomination for the Best Research Award (PhD) at Universiti Sains Malaysia. He secured 2nd place in oral presentation and the Young Investigator Award at RCMM–NCCR, and is a two-time recipient of the Sanggar Sanjung Award (2021, 2022) for outstanding publications. His achievements also include Best Oral Presenter at departmental journal forums, First Place for Best Poster Presentation at the 17th Annual Conference of the Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Society of Pakistan, and a merit-based USM research assistance scholarship.
