Dr. Hossam S.S. AbdelMeguid is a Professor of Thermo-Fluid Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Tabuk, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He has been serving at the University of Tabuk since October 2014, where he contributes extensively to teaching, academic development, scientific research, quality assurance, and national and international accreditation activities.

He received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Water Engineering from De Montfort University in 2011. His doctoral research, titled “Pressure, Leakage, and Energy Management in Water Distribution Systems,” focused on advanced hydraulic analysis and optimization of water distribution networks with emphasis on sustainable water resource management and system efficiency enhancement.

He earned his Master of Science (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering from Mansoura University, where his thesis on “Heat Transfer in Microchannels” received the university award for the Best MSc Thesis. He also obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Power Engineering from Mansoura University, where his graduation project focused on the design, manufacturing, and experimental testing of a regenerative turbine pump.

Before joining the University of Tabuk, Dr. AbdelMeguid held academic and research positions at Mansoura University and University of Exeter. These experiences strengthened his expertise in thermo-fluid systems, water engineering, heat transfer enhancement, fluid mechanics, and sustainable energy applications.

At the University of Tabuk, Dr. AbdelMeguid is actively involved in undergraduate teaching and curriculum development. He develops and delivers a wide range of engineering courses, including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, engineering statics, engineering dynamics, heat transfer, water engineering systems, and related mechanical engineering subjects. He supervises final-year graduation projects and mentors undergraduate students in research-based engineering design and applied problem solving.

Dr. AbdelMeguid plays a leading role in academic quality assurance and accreditation. He chairs and contributes to several departmental and program committees, including academic accreditation and quality assurance, curriculum and course development, graduate studies and scientific research, field training and graduation projects, learning resources and laboratory development, alumni affairs and labor market alignment, and academic advising and student activities. He has contributed substantially to strategic planning, program assessment, continuous improvement processes, and accreditation documentation for the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering program.

His research interests lie in thermo-fluid engineering and sustainable energy technologies, with particular emphasis on solar desalination systems, phase change material applications, thermal energy storage, water distribution system optimization, leakage management, pressure control, and renewable-energy-driven water treatment technologies.

Dr. AbdelMeguid has led and participated in several innovative research projects in solar thermal desalination and sustainable water systems. His recent work includes the development of advanced solar stills integrated with phase change materials, dynamic thermal performance analysis of solar desalination systems under arid climatic conditions, and optimization of energy-efficient water treatment technologies for desert environments. He is currently leading research initiatives including the DesertSand Desalination project and advanced studies on thermal energy storage integration in renewable desalination applications.

He has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications in internationally recognized journals and conferences in the areas of thermal systems, solar desalination, water engineering, and heat transfer enhancement. His research contributions focus on experimental investigations, numerical modeling, system optimization, and practical engineering applications that address water-energy sustainability challenges in arid regions.

In addition to academic teaching and research, Dr. AbdelMeguid provides approved professional consultancy services under the auspices of the University of Tabuk. His consultancy expertise includes thermal system analysis, water distribution system performance assessment, fluid system optimization, and engineering design evaluation.

Dr. AbdelMeguid is committed to advancing engineering education, promoting applied scientific research, and supporting sustainable technological development aligned with national strategic priorities in energy, water, and environmental sustainability.
