ASMA BASHIR

Dr. Asma Bashir is the Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Travel and Tourism program at the College of Tourism and Hospitality, University of Tabuk. She holds a PhD in Creative Tourism and a certificate in Sustainable Tourism Destination Management from Cornell University.
Her research and collaborations include cultural mapping with the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Jammu and the international project Contested Heritage with Torrens University Australia. Her teaching is grounded in experiential learning & critical pedagogy, empowering students through inclusive and locally rooted perspectives.
Dr. Bashir has taught across leading institutions in India and Saudi Arabia, contributing extensively to curriculum development, quality assurance, and student research supervision. Her scholarly work is published in Scopus- and ABDC‑indexed journals, with research focusing on accessibility in tourism, destination loyalty, bibliometric trends, and heritage management. She also serves as a reviewer for international journals, including the International Journal of Tourism Policy and Tourism – An Interdisciplinary Journal.
Dr. Bashir has supervised postgraduate research, led workshops on gender equity and tourism entrepreneurship, and engaged in community outreach with women’s groups and tourism stakeholders. She is a member of Critical Tourism Studies (Asia), INTACH, and the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI), working at the intersection of academia, industry, and community.
