Dr Ashraf M Marei
He is graduated with an Honor Degree in 1987, from the Electrical Engineering Dept (Communication and Electro-physics section) from the University of Alexandria He finished his MSc in Information Technology in 1991
In 1992, he earned a scholarship where he joined the “Parallel and Distributed Computing Lab in Computer Engineering Department of Santa Clara University – USA, for two years During this period, he accomplished his PhD research and thesis in digital signal processing furthermore he joined the on-going project “Distributed Shared-Memory Computing Environment (DICE) He simulated the developed system on BonEs a CAE application for Network simulation
He worked as Part Time Network software engineer in TTC of Silicon Valley – Los Gatos, California, on Oct 1993 He developed a simulation scheme for a PG&E SCADA cellular network as part of multiple network schemes Assessment projects Later, he lead a team at TTC working in a project funded by “Senses Data Communication a subsidiary of “Senses International Group of San Jose – California In this project, they developed the protocol and firmware for a “Hierarchical Multiple Access Wireless Cellular Network
He received his PhD in Information Technology in 1995, University of Alexandria
In 1999, he joined the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science in the College of Education, Nizwa, and Sultanate of Oman He contributed to the development of the curriculum of the Computer Science section, and organized a couple of Computer and IT days Moreover, he acquired good knowledge about the role of computer in education, and learned the Gulf culture
In the fall of 2000, he joined for the Department of Management Information Systems, School of Business and Economics, University of United Arab Emirates, Al-Ein, UAE He taught different IT courses He was the supervisor of the MIS Student Association He coordinated the winter internship of MIS Student in Abu-Dhabi, and Al-Ein cities
In 2003-2005, he developed his knowledge in VHDL (Verilog Hardware development Language), and designed large scale LED display panel This design were manufactured under his supervision in China, assembled and installed in different place in Saudi Arabia
In 2006, he was the director of the Information Center He was supervisor of the winner in the local in Robocon 2006 contest in Egypt
In 2007-2009, he joined the Canadian University of Dubai, School of Engineering
In 2009-Now, he is associated with Faculty of Computers and Information Technology, University of Tabuk, KSA
From 2017-2023, he was the supervisor of Manufacturing and production unit at the Industrial Innovation and Robotics Center
Current research interest is in robotics, digital signal processing, and digital control systems
