The Higher Education Council issued Resolution No. (13/44/1427) dated 21/10/1427 AH, establishing the Faculty of Engineering. The decision to establish the faculty came in response to the Kingdom's ongoing development in numerous fields, recognizing engineering as the profession that utilizes science to serve and benefit society, as well as to keep pace with scientific and technological advancements in the 21st century. The faculty was established to meet the needs of the engineering job market at both the regional and national levels.
The faculty commenced its activities and operations in the academic year 1429/1430 AH, admitting (80) students in its first year, a number that has been steadily increasing each year. The duration of study at the Faculty of Engineering is five years, divided into ten semesters (levels), in addition to eight weeks of summer training in companies and institutions under the supervision of the faculty members.
