The Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tabuk is responsible for teaching the fundamental principles of human body functions and regulatory mechanisms in health and disease to medical and pharmacy students, in alignment with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the accreditation standards of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA).
The department adopts a competency-based, integrated educational approach that links physiological concepts to clinical applications, thereby preparing graduates with a strong functional understanding, critical thinking skills.
Faculty members are actively engaged in basic and applied research in physiology, neuroscience, metabolism, and medical education, contributing to the University of Tabuk’s mission in research excellence and community service while enhancing the quality of the learning environment.

The Department of Physiology delivers structured physiology courses within the undergraduate medical program at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tabuk. These courses cover cellular physiology and the physiology of major body systems, including the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, endocrine, and reproductive systems.
The curriculum is designed to ensure both horizontal and vertical integration with other basic and clinical sciences, and with learning outcomes aligned to the program learning outcomes approved under NCAAA requirements.

The department organizes a range of educational and scientific activities, such as hands-on workshops and interactive sessions that link physiology to clinical cases through the college’s scientific clubs, in support of active learning. The department also participates in course-related activities during the foundational years and contributes to research events organized by the College’s Vice-Deanship for Graduate Studies and Development. In addition, its faculty members take part in voluntary, awareness-raising, and community service activities organized by the College of Medicine at the University of Tabuk or by external bodies, in fulfillment of the university’s role in serving the community.Â
