The Department of Languages and Translation at the faculty of Education and Arts, University of Tabuk, was established in 2009, originating from the former English Department at the College of Teachers as part of a broader initiative to develop and restructure the department. The department currently offers a Bachelor’s degree in English and includes a distinguished group of faculty members specializing in English language teaching, theoretical and applied linguistics, English literature, and translation. These faculty members actively contribute to the academic and educational advancement of students through the adoption of modern teaching methodologies, the promotion of scientific research, and engagement in community service—efforts that collectively enhance the overall quality of the department’s academic output. In 2018, the Bachelor of English Program earned international accreditation from the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) in the United States, affirming the department’s commitment to meeting national and international standards in English language education. In addition, the department pursued national accreditation and, in 2024, the Bachelor of English Program was granted full accreditation by the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation. The department continues to pursue continuous development and improvement in academic performance, enhance research excellence, and support the capabilities of its faculty members, while also working to strengthen the competencies of its graduates and the quality of its educational outcomes. In its efforts to keep pace with labor-market needs and cultural and community requirements, the department undertook a comprehensive revision of the Bachelor’s program curriculum in 2022. This revision included updating the courses to reflect current developments in English language teaching, literature, and translation, ensuring the quality of the academic content and the linguistic skills provided to students.
