
The General Administration of Human Resources was established under its former name, the Deanship of Faculty and Staff, based on the approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Higher Education Council (may God have mercy on him), under Decree No. 4465/M B, dated 28/5/1431 AH (May God have mercy on him). Its first dean was appointed pursuant to Decision No. 10217, dated 29/1/1432 AH (May God have mercy on him), issued by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education. The Ministry of Education approved the transformation of the Deanship of Faculty and Staff into the Deanship of Human Resources in 1440 AH (May God have mercy on him). It was renamed the General Administration of Human Resources in 1445 AH (May God have mercy on him). It is one of the supporting departments that assists the colleges in carrying out their educational, research, and community service missions, as well as other university units and departments. The administration also seeks to provide distinguished services to faculty members and employees. The administration is also responsible for achieving its objectives, including attracting the best talent to work at the university, achieving quality performance in administrative dealings, and developing and enhancing employee skills. The administration also works to provide services in accordance with the rules and regulations in force in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the instructions issued by the university. The administration also aims to facilitate transaction procedures with the required speed and accuracy. It seeks to develop its electronic services for faculty members and employees in order to make better use of modern technology and save effort and time for university members. The General Administration of Human Resources also aims to provide better services to all university members, including faculty members and those in a similar position, and to all university employees, including administrators and technicians.

The break between semesters is for students, not faculty members.
The university has the right to grant contract employees emergency leave not exceeding ten days per year with full pay. This leave will be deducted from their annual leave. Travel tickets are not due for this leave, in accordance with Article (35) of the Regulations for the Employment of Non-Saudis in Saudi Universities, which stipulates that, in addition to the weekend and two Eid holidays, contract employees are entitled to an annual leave with full pay, payable at the beginning of each leave. The leave is paid in full at the beginning of each leave period, amounting to (60) days for faculty members and those in similar positions, and (45) days for others. The leave is due for part of the year in proportion to the duration of the leave. Those whose contracts commence within one month of the contract start date at the university are considered entitled to full leave. The university council may amend the period of annual leave in accordance with the requirements of the annual calendar.
If a contract faculty member or similar employee completes two years of service at the university, they are entitled to an end-of-service gratuity of half a monthly salary for each year. If they complete five years of service at the university, they are entitled to a service gratuity of one monthly salary for each year of service, with a maximum of one hundred thousand riyals. The gratuity is paid at the end of service and is calculated based on the last salary the contract employee receives upon termination, in accordance with Article (29) of the Regulations for the Employment of Non-Saudis in Saudi Universities. This gratuity is calculated from the basic salary only, excluding any allowances.
The university provides travel tickets for contracted faculty members and their families when they bring them for residency purposes, including the contracted person's own ticket. The contracted person is entitled to travel tickets whether traveling with family members or traveling individually. The contracted faculty member is entitled to these tickets once for arriving from his or her home country to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the beginning of the contract, unless he or she is a resident of the Kingdom at the time of the contract, in accordance with Article (17) of the Regulations for the Employment of Non-Saudis in Saudi Universities. The purpose of obtaining residency is to reside in the country in which the contracted person works (the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).
The university may bear the actual educational expenses of the children of a contract faculty member and those in a similar position, except for transportation fees to and from school from elementary school through the completion of secondary school, subject to the following conditions:
That they cannot be accepted into government schools.
That none of them be less than six years old and no older than eighteen years old.
The number of those paid does not exceed four, and the total expenses do not exceed (25) thousand riyals per academic year. The University Council determines the amount allocated to each student in accordance with Article (31) of the Regulations for the Employment of Non-Saudis in Saudi Universities.
The contractor and his family members will benefit throughout the contract period from the general medical services available in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In cases of extreme necessity, the University Council may decide otherwise in accordance with Article (30) of the Regulations for the Employment of Non-Saudis in Saudi Universities.
The university president may assign a faculty member during annual vacation. They are compensated for the period they are assigned to work with an additional salary equivalent to their salary for that period, provided that the period for which they are compensated does not exceed sixty days per year, in accordance with Article (57) of the Regulations of the Organization for the Affairs of Saudi University Staff, including Faculty Members and Those in a Position.
Unless the university provides furnished housing, a new contracted faculty member or equivalent is paid a furniture allowance in the amount of 50% of the annual housing allowance during their first contract. The furniture allowance is paid once throughout the duration of the contract with the university. For this purpose, only those who have been absent from work with a government agency in the Kingdom for at least two years and have re-contracted with the university are considered new employees unless they have previously been paid the allowance in accordance with Article (25) of the Regulations for the Employment of Non-Saudis in Saudi Universities.
The contracted faculty member is entitled to one month of sick leave with full pay, which may be extended for an additional two months with half pay, according to Article (37) of the Regulations for the Employment of Non-Saudi Faculty Members in Saudi Universities.
The university president, based on the recommendation of the department and college councils and after approval by the conference committee, may approve a faculty member's attendance at a conference or scientific symposium inside or outside the Kingdom, without the university incurring any expenses, in accordance with Article (27) of the Regulations for the Employment of Non-Saudi Faculty Members in Saudi Universities.
Faculty members, lecturers, and teaching assistants perform forty hours per week, which they spend on teaching, scientific research, academic supervision, administrative work, and other assigned tasks. Contract faculty members and those in similar positions are treated the same as Saudi faculty members, with regard to their teaching load and the rules for compensation for additional teaching hours, in accordance with Article (15) of the Regulations for the Employment of Non-Saudi Faculty Members in Saudi Universities.
