The caring  of  individuals with disabilities has become an increasing global concern as well as  social and cultural awareness, which led to the formation and activation of many governmental and private educational institutions. Consequently, paving  the channels of communication between the above-mentioned institutions . Ultimately this partnership and compatibility of the programs being reflected remarkably in preparing  specialists to meet the needs of different categories of disabilities, that  need someone who understands their needs and works to comply with.

Accordingly, University of Tabuk has instituted Department of Special Education in the Faculty  of Education and Arts, it`s vision is to improve the community's attitudes towards persons with disabilities, as well as improving educational opportunities, equipment, and support services for persons with disabilities and their families. Its mission is also to prepare a special education teacher who is able to provide a distinguished educational, pedagogical and psychological service to various categories of persons with disabilities and their families, such as (Teachers of learning difficulties - teachers of intellectual disability - teachers of hearing disability - teachers of visual impairment, teachers of autism and pervasive developmental disorders)  and following suit the latest  experiences and developments in the arena either nationally or internationally . At the same times the Department aims to provide advisory services to the parties concerned with the implementation of the various programs of special education. In like manner, the Department aims at conducting  workshops, seminars and scientific conferences on the most significant  issues of special education, nevertheless  offering programs of bachelor's and master's degree .
