Word of The Director

The caring of individuals with disabilities has become an increasing global concern as well as social and cultural awareness, which led to the formation and activation of many governmental and private educational institutions. Consequently, paving the channels of communication between the above-mentioned institutions . Ultimately this partnership and compatibility of the programs being reflected remarkably in preparing specialists to meet the needs of different categories of disabilities, that need someone who understands their needs and works to comply with.

Accordingly, University of Tabuk has instituted Department of Special Education in the Faculty of Education and Arts, it`s vision is to improve the community's attitudes towards persons with disabilities, as well as improving educational opportunities, equipment, and support services for persons with disabilities and their families. Its mission is also to prepare a special education teacher who is able to provide a distinguished educational, pedagogical and psychological service to various categories of persons with disabilities and their families, such as (Teachers of learning difficulties - teachers of intellectual disability - teachers of hearing disability - teachers of visual impairment, teachers of autism and pervasive developmental disorders) and following suit the latest experiences and developments in the arena either nationally or internationally . At the same times the Department aims to provide advisory services to the parties concerned with the implementation of the various programs of special education. In like manner, the Department aims at conducting workshops, seminars and scientific conferences on the most significant issues of special education, nevertheless offering programs of bachelor's and master's degree .

Mission

Preparing a special education teacher capable of providing a distinct educational, pedagogical and psychological service to various categories of individuals with special needs and furthermore to their families.

Vision

Department of Special Education aims to be pioneer in improving community 's attitudes towards special needs persons, as well as improving educational opportunities, equipment and support services to special needs individuals and their families.

Objectives

We put our vision into action through a set of general objectives that guide our journey toward excellence. Through these objectives, we strive to achieve the highest standards of academic and research performance and community service, while fostering an inspiring educational environment and a vibrant university community.

First Objective

Preparing a special education teacher capable of teaching and training people with special needs and their families, by carrying out the following tasks

Contributing effectively in the education of special needs individuals in light of their needs and disabilities .
Contributing in diagnosing special needs individuals within an integrated team work .
Formulating educational plans and programs for special needs individuals.
Providing behavior modification services for individual with special needs .
Guidance for people with special needs .
Modify the community's approaches towards special needs individuals .

Second Objective

Providing advisory services to the authorities concerned with implementing the various programs of special education.

Third Objective

Conducting scientific research and solving tangible problems in the field of special education.

Fourth Objective

Holding training courses, workshops, seminars and scientific conferences on special education issues.

Fifth Objective

Providing study programs as post graduate diploma, master's PHD degree. And
