The Department of Interior Design was established with the establishment of the College of Design and Arts, following the approval of the Interim Committee charged with assuming the responsibilities of the Higher Education Council (now dissolved). This approval was granted at its nineteenth meeting held on 7/3/1440 AH (11/19/1440 AH), and was reflected in Resolution No. 96/2000 (11/19/1440 AH), which outlined the restructuring and renaming of the "College of Home Economics" to the "College of Design and Arts."
