Duties and Responsibilities of the Vice Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Development

The Vice Deanship of  Postgraduate Studies and Development is responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Supervising the work of administrative units and committees associated with the Vice Deanship, proposing initiatives that enhance their performance, ensuring the provision of necessary resources, and monitoring their operations through appropriate supervision and control mechanisms to improve staff performance.
  2. Following up on the implementation of decisions issued by the University Council, the University President, and the College Council, as well as relevant administrative regulations and circulars.
  3. Overseeing the implementation of graduate programs in the College in accordance with approved regulations and standards, and taking necessary actions to approve new programs and develop existing ones in coordination with relevant academic departments and university entities.
  4. Monitoring the development and updating of graduate program curricula, approving specializations, textbooks, and references in coordination with relevant academic departments.
  5. Ensuring the proper conduct of the teaching and learning process in graduate programs and verifying compliance with applicable regulations and instructions by faculty members and students.
  6. Supervising all admission procedures for graduate programs, course registration, deferment, withdrawal, add/drop processes, re-enrollment, and ensuring timely completion of all academic procedures in accordance with the academic calendar and regulations.
  7. Monitoring midterm and final examinations to ensure compliance with approved schedules and academic regulations, and ensuring all requirements for successful examination processes are met.
  8. Overseeing the distribution of teaching loads among faculty members in graduate programs.
  9. Preparing academic performance reports related to graduate programs and submitting them to the Dean of the College. 
  10. Ensuring the provision of a comprehensive and sustainable learning environment for graduate programs.
  11. Supervising student extracurricular and co-curricular activities in graduate programs in accordance with approved guidelines.
  12. Overseeing orientation programs for graduate students and ensuring the publication of relevant guides and informational materials.
  13. Following up on scholarship and training procedures for faculty and staff, ensuring the implementation of approved training and development plans, and coordinating with relevant departments.
  14. Reviewing requests from scholarship students (such as extension, cancellation, deferment, change of country or specialization, or transfer between universities), and providing recommendations in coordination with relevant departments.
  15. Promoting scientific research activities among faculty members, developing research strategies and plans, and supporting funding initiatives including research chairs and centers of excellence.
  16. Supervising conferences, seminars, workshops, and academic events in coordination with relevant university entities.
  17. Overseeing academic journals and scientific associations related to the College.
  18. Following up on programmatic and institutional accreditation projects and ensuring their completion according to required standards and timelines.
  19. Preparing the College’s strategic plan in coordination with relevant Vice Deanships and departments, and monitoring its implementation after approval.
  20. Monitoring the achievement of the University’s strategic plan objectives within the scope of the Vice Deanship’s responsibilities.
  21. Ensuring compliance with quality assurance and accreditation standards across academic departments.
  22. Promoting a culture of excellence, quality, innovation, and continuous improvement among students, faculty, and staff.
  23. Submitting training needs and development proposals to enhance academic staff performance.
  24. Developing proposals to improve internal and external relations of the College.
  25. Proposing programs that strengthen the College’s community engagement role.
  26. Updating the Vice Deanship’s information on the official University website.
  27. Performing any other tasks within the scope of the Vice Deanship or as assigned by the College Council or the Dean of the College.
