The Local Bioethics Committee was established to ethically review research related to living organisms. The Local Standing Committee for Bioethics at the University of Tabuk was formed pursuant to Decision No. 23814/052/34 of His Excellency the University President, dated 04/14/1434 AH (1994 AD), in accordance with the Law of Research Ethics on Living Creatures issued by Royal Decree No. (M/59) dated 09/14/1431 AH (1994 AD), and its implementing regulations issued by the President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology No. 215221/M/10 dated 01/29/1433 AH (1994 AD). The Local Standing Committee for Research Ethics at the University of Tabuk was registered with the National Bioethics Committee under No. (HAP-07-TU—001) dated 06/03/1434 AH (1994 AD), to obtain legal status and to grant ethical approval for research related to living organisms submitted to it. The local committee is also responsible for any research conducted at the university and works to ensure that the principal investigator and research staff adhere to all the controls, procedures, and provisions contained in the Code of Ethics for Research on Living Creatures and its implementing regulations, as well as what is decided by the National Bioethics Committee.
