About The Department of Health Rehabilitation Sciences (HRS)
The Department of Health Rehabilitation Sciences (HRS) serves as a fundamental pillar within the medical education framework, dedicated to cultivating a generation of specialized national professionals focused on restoring vital functions and enhancing quality of life. The HRS department adopts a rigorous academic curriculum that integrates research innovation with advanced clinical application, aligned with the highest international quality standards.
The department was established as the "Physical Therapy Department" in August 2014 (1435/1436 AH) under the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences. In 2023, in accordance with the strategic objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, the department was renamed the "Department of Health Rehabilitation Sciences." This transition aimed to prepare qualified national professionals who are capable of practicing health professions with high levels of professionalism. Additionally, the department’s scope will be expanded to include a diverse range of health rehabilitation programs.
Currently, the department offers the physical therapy program, which aims to graduate physical therapists distinguished by high levels of knowledge, skill, and competence. Operating within a premier educational and research environment, the program is committed to meeting the healthcare needs of the community while striving for excellence in education, scholarly research, and community service in the field of physical therapy, both locally and globally.
Looking forward, the department intends to expand its academic portfolio by introducing new programs in rehabilitation science disciplines, including emergency medical services, occupational therapy, and respiratory therapy.

Physical Therapy Students Awarded Fourth Place in Emergency Science and Safety Hackathon for "Natheer" Smart Helmet Project.
The Department of Health Rehabilitation Sciences is proud to congratulate physical therapy students Renad Al-Zahrani, Imtinan Al-Hakami, Abeer Al-Balawi, and Manar Asiri on winning fourth place in the Emergency Science and Safety Hackathon. Their innovative project, 'Natheer: Smart Safety Helmet,' was recognized at the event hosted by Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz College for EMS, the Entrepreneurship Institute’s Innovation Center, and KSU Medical City. We wish the team further success in their academic and professional journeys."
