About the Unit:

The University of Tabuk is dedicated to supporting and empowering students with disabilities by fostering an inclusive university environment that accommodates their educational, psychological, and social needs. This ensures equal opportunities for academic success and active participation in university life.

Driven by this commitment, the Disability Support Unit was established as a specialized entity to provide essential and supportive services for students with disabilities. It features a qualified team that assesses student needs and implements appropriate solutions to overcome challenges they may encounter during their academic journey.

The unit focuses on adapting both the educational and physical environment to ensure accessibility, promoting integration within the university community, and offering psychological and social preparation programs for a comprehensive and safe campus experience. Additionally, the university places a special emphasis on twice-exceptional students (gifted students with disabilities) by nurturing their capabilities and refining their talents in alignment with their individual traits and needs.

Objectives:

  • Ensuring that students with disabilities receive their full educational and service rights within the university.
  • Creating an accessible campus environment that accommodates various types of disabilities.
  • Overcoming the challenges and difficulties that students with disabilities may face through sustainable solutions.
  • Providing comprehensive, high-quality services (academic, psychological, environmental, technological, counseling, and training).
  • Enhancing partnerships and cooperation with relevant entities both inside and outside the university.
  • Supporting the integration of students with disabilities into various university activities and programs.
  • Raising awareness among university staff regarding the culture of diversity acceptance and effective ways to interact with students with disabilities.
  • Monitoring and continuously evaluating the quality of services provided to further develop them.

 

Duties

  • Coordinating with relevant entities within the university to ensure the provision of appropriate support for students with disabilities.
  • Studying the cases of students with disabilities to determine the specific services and accommodations suitable for them.
  • Contributing to the evaluation of admission opportunities for students with disabilities, in coordination with the competent authorities.
  • Monitoring the implementation of policies and regulations governing services for students with disabilities.
  • Evaluating the university environment according to universal design principles and proposing necessary improvements.
  • Encouraging the participation of students with disabilities in scientific, cultural, and sports activities.
  • Supporting academic accreditation requirements related to services for students with disabilities.
  • Preparing the necessary studies and reports for development and improvement, while maintaining data confidentiality.
