​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Department of Mathematics was established with the establishment of the College of Science in the academic year 1427/1428 AH corresponding to 2006/2007 as a branch of King Abdulaziz University. In addition to the general specialization in pure mathematics, the department contains the Statistics Division, which was established in the academic year 1430/1431 AH, and the department began to accept students And female students for the master's program with coursework and research project, as well as academic courses and thesis, starting from the academic year 1431/1432 AH

Department Mission

Preparing graduates qualified in mathematics and its applications to meet labor market needs and serve the local community, and able to conduct scientific research and innovation. ​

Providing mathematical and computing skills to graduates in an environment that encourages scientific research and community service. ​




Master Program Mission

Prepare qualified scientific cadre with advanced mathematical knowledge and skills through an academic environment that encourages scientific research and contributes to community service. ​


Objectives

Department's Goals:​

  • Creating a curriculum and educational process that meets accreditation and standards of quality.

  • Motivating and assisting students in learning, studying, creating, and contributing to positive social interaction.

  • Strengthening and enhancing the skills of faculty and staff members.

  • Encouraging scientific and practical studies in various fields of mathematics.

  • Encourage successful collaboration and communication between the department and the community.

  • To create a collaborative environment between faculty and administrative staff in order to support the department's educational process.

Knowledge and Understanding:
The studnets will be able to: 

  • K1: Demonstrate various ideas and advanced concepts in different branches of mathematics.
  • K2: Describe different methods of mathematical problems and keep up with the recent advancements in this field.
  • K3: Enhance advanced knowledge and understanding of research methodology.


Skills:
The students will be able to:

  • ​S1: Apply advanced mathematical concepts in conducting scientific research in various mathematical fields.
  • S2: Analyze and solve complicated mathematical problems using advanced numerical methods.
  • S3: Use of creative critical thinking and advanced analytical reasoning in solving complex mathematical problems.
  • S4: Communicate ideas concisely, accurately and effectively using written and oral presentations.
