A cataract, also known as a white water, is a clouding of the eye's lens, which is normally transparent and located behind the iris.

When a cataract develops, the lens gradually loses its transparency and becomes opaque, preventing light from passing through it and resulting in blurred or unclear vision. Cataracts can affect people at any age and are a leading cause of partial or total blindness in the long term.
