The duties of the Academic Advising Unit are as follows:
Developing the college’s academic advising plan, supervising its implementation and continuous improvement in coordination with academic departments, and ensuring that departmental plans are aligned with the general plan.
Supervising orientation programs for new students and introducing them to the study and examination regulations, academic programs, study plans, the college’s mission and objectives, academic departments, and career prospects for graduates.
Monitoring the distribution of new students among academic advisors and ensuring the regularity of advising processes within academic departments.
Promoting awareness of the importance of academic advising, the role of the Academic Advising Unit, and how to benefit from its services.
Reviewing academic cases referred by the Deanship or academic departments through academic advisors, including students’ academic issues and complaints related to courses or study plans, proposing appropriate solutions, and referring them to the relevant authorities when necessary.
Holding periodic meetings with departmental representatives (Academic Advising Coordinators) every four weeks or as needed to discuss periodic or exceptional reports and follow up on students’ academic status.
Preparing and submitting a periodic report at the end of each semester detailing the unit’s activities, student performance levels, and recommendations to the Vice Deanship for Educational Affairs.
