About

The Department of Languages and Translation at the College of Education and Literature at the University of Tabuk was established from the womb of the former English Department of the University’s Teachers College in the year 1430/1431 AH, as a first step for the development and restructuring of the department. Currently, the department awards a bachelor’s degree in literature and education to students of the English language department only, but in the near future, God willing, other foreign languages departments will be opened, such as French and German. The subjects currently acquired by the student vary between English literature, linguistics and Western civilization, in addition to many other diverse subjects that ensure that students obtain a sufficient amount of knowledge. In light of the above, the Department of Languages and Translation aims to achieve the following:
- Upgrading students' level of language skills, especially translation from English into Arabic, which allows them to see and translate many foreign books and references into Arabic.
Training students to be good cadres in the fields of languages, translation and business administration, in addition to the various fields that need the English language.
- Increasing students' familiarity with the civilization and history of the United Kingdom and the United States in many centuries, and their relationship with the Arab and Islamic world.
- Paying attention to the graduates from the department through the many programs that are offered, which aim to refine students' skills and train them on an ongoing basis.
Focusing on writing, reading, speaking and listening skills, as a start to achieving excellence in the skill of translation from Arabic into English.
- And last but not least, the Department of Languages and Translation at the college is committed to achieving quality in the fields of teaching through many programs and attracting excellent elites of faculty members who hold a doctorate degree from the Arab, Islamic or international countries.
