Effectiveness of Physical Exercise on Job Stress and Quality of Life in office workers with Chronic Non-Specific Neck Pain: A Randomized Controlled trial Background: Chronic non-specific neck pain (NSNP) is a common health problem globally among the office workers Research suggests that disability, job or work-related stress and quality of life may contribute to the development of NSNP by causing excessive or prolonged muscle activity in some individuals Objective: This study aims to determine whether physical exercise or Exercise therapy (ET) focusing on therapeutic techniques (such as basic body awareness therapy, stretching, strengthening or endurance exercises) and ergonomic modifications is effective to reduce pain, disability, job stress and improve quality of life in office workers with chronic NSNP Methods: A total of 40 subjects with moderate-to-severe neck pain (numerical pain rating scale score ⩾4/10) for ⩾3 months randomly assigned into two groups Experimental group (Exercise therapy and Ergonomic modifications) and Control group (Ergonomic modification only) Main outcomes: Pain, Disability, Job stress, and Quality of life is to be evaluated at baseline, 4 th week and 8 th week using visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain, Neck disability index (NDI) for disability, Health and Safety Executive (HSE) work-related stress tool for job stress and Short Form Health Survey-36 (SF-36) for quality of life, respectively Statistical analysis: A simple descriptive statistical analysis to describe the patients specific demographic characteristics with respect to outcome parameters Within group and between groups comparison will be analyzing using ANOVA and Scheffe’s post-hoc tests by using SPSS 200 Conclusion: It would be expected that there is a significant improvement in the clinical outcomes following the applications of exercise therapy with ergonomic modifications
