About

​

The Department of Education and Psychology was established as a supporting and subsidiary department to teach general courses offered by the academic departments in the Faculty of Education and Arts. Moreover, the Department teaches the courses of the post graduate Diploma (Guidance and Counseling).  Along with the foresaid points, the Department participates also in teaching some courses in the Post graduate Diploma (General Educational Diploma ) 

The Department seeks specifically, to develop the academic programs related to the specialization at the theoretical and applied levels. These programs have a remarkable role in preparing students to be succeeded parallelly   in the educational and psychological aspects. Similarly, the Department aims to develop research skills and following up the latest evolution of the discipline. Meanwhile  the Department is deeply alert   of the culture of society, which  is  based on the guidance of Islam, thus  the department following suits Islamic values and reflecting them in community service, especially  in the scientific research, measurement, teaching, counseling, and psychotherapy.

I pray and greet our example and our beloved Muhammad, may Allah  bless Him and grant Him peace, who said: ((The preference of the scholar over the worshiper is as my preference over the lowest of you)) Then he added the blessings and peace of my Lord upon him in the virtue of knowledge and scholars by saying: Allah  and His angels, and the people of the heavens and the earth, and even the ant in its hole, and even the whale to pray It is upon those who teach good people.” Narrated by Al-Tirmithi, who said: It is a good prophet tradition , and the meaning of the virtue of the scholar The meaning of the superiority of the scholar over the worshiper is the superiority of the knowledgeable man over the worshiping man, like the superiority of the Messenger of Allah , may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, over the least of the believers, and this prophet tradition   he raised the status of scholars  And to raise their status to Almighty Allah , Allah  revives hearts through them, just as the earth lives with rain. 

What is the merit except for the people of knowledge that they are on guidance for those who seek guidance?

Every person has decreed for what he does well, and the ignorant are enemies to the people of knowledge. 

So, win with knowledge and you will live forever, people are dead, and the people of knowledge are alive.

Our honorable visitor, the Department of Education and Psychology is keen of  sustainable evolution  and modernization in academic , research programs and courses, such as the establishing   of Bachelor's degree in(B A) Psychology and as well as  , Master’s degree  in Education, in the near future.

​The Department of Education and Psychology seeks distinction in implementing academic programs related to specialization.    Moreover, it aims to offer  advanced research activities, that to contribute significantly in   community service.

Mission

​The Department of Education and Psychology seeks distinction in providing post graduate programs in the educational and psychological studies. In common these programs are based on promoting scientific research skills, also keeping pace with recent developments and trends of  specialization, respectively this contributes effectively  in  the community service. 


Objectives

​

 For the verification of the   mission entrusted to the 
Department of Education and Psychology 
following goals should be implemented,  the
1- Enhancing the academic members to improve their scientific capability and professional recital.
2 -Focusing on quality of  teaching  and learning by activating modern technology in curricula. 
3 -Continuous reviewing and updating of the course description and following flexibility in the process of modification to cope with the new tendencies of the discipline.  
4- Providing students with the necessary skills to apply psychological tests and measures. In addition, analyze the results and sum up the methods of preparing them.
5-Developing the mechanism of counseling and clinical practice, and providing students with the necessary and required skills 
6- Spreading the concept and sustainability of   science and scientific research, along with strenuous effort to develop postgraduate programs.
7- Supporting academic advising  in the Faculty and the Department to help students to verify compatibility and the desired achievement in their academic path.
8- Establishing unit in the Department that seeks to harmonize between the outputs of the Department’s programs and the requirements of the labor market. This can be conducting through a scientific and professional partnership with the governmental and private sectors of society related to the specialization.
