It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Pharmacology at the university of Tabuk .
Pharmacology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of drug action or more specifically it is the study of the interactions that occur between a living organism and chemicals that affect normal or abnormal biochemical function.
The importance of pharmacology relies to several hadiths attributed to Prophet Muhammad mercy upon him, such as:"There is no disease that Allah has created, except that ALLAH also has created its treatment.” And "Allah has sent down both the disease and the cure, and ALLAH has appointed a cure for every disease, so treat yourselves medically.”
The belief that there is a cure for every disease encouraged early Muslims to engage in medical research and seek out cures for diseases known to them : Razi, , al-Kindi, Ibn Rushd, Abu al-Qasim, Ibn Zuhr, Ibn al-Baitar, Ibn Al-Jazzar, Ibn Juljul, Ibn al-Quff, Ibn an-Nafs, al-Biruni, Ibn Sahl and hundreds of other Muslim physicians developed drug therapy and medicinal drugs for the treatment of specific symptoms and diseases.
Conventionally, Pharmacology has been considered an applied science. However, with the development of molecular biology Pharmacology has become an evolving science that relies on finding novel therapeutics and improving existing ones.
Our program currently includes a wide collection of Pharmacology courses, taught by our faculty members who are committed to excellence in teaching.
We are here to offer you the best in basic sciences education.
