The University of Tabuk has already identified provision of outstanding clinical services to the residents of Tabuk as one of its primary strategic goal. In this cogent document entitled "The Bridge to Excellence", the University has also articulated key objectives that have to be accomplished by relevant faculties in the next five years to satisfy its bold aspirations. The Faculty of Medicine has therefore adopted a number of these objectives as its primary strategic goals ensuring timely accomplishment of its vision and mission as well as that of the University. In this regards, the Faculty of Medicine has outlined the following as its strategic goals:


I. Continue to improve medical curricula and seek national and international partnerships for further innovation in its content;

II. Explore and implement new and innovative alternative modes of delivery of curriculum using electronic platforms such as e-College, Blackboard, Pod Casting, etc.

III. Continue to deliver medical curriculum using Problem Based Learning and an integrative Organ System's approach;

IV. Incorporate in our curriculum and training the most effective approach to community-based medical education

V. Ensure that the instruction of medical students is in English



I. Continue to develop state-of-the art instructional laboratories and lecture rooms for the students in the existing transitional facilities;

II. Complete in a timely fashion the construction of the state-of-the art physical facilities for the Faculty of Medicine;

III. Ensure that facilities are being developed concurrently for both male and female students;

IV. Establish a professional advising unit for the students;

V. Facilitate the development of adequate print and electronic library resources for the faculty and students;

VI. Establish a University-associated hospital in Tabuk offering secondary and tertiary care



I. Continue to seek/meet national and international accreditation standards of our medical (MBBS) program of/from agencies such as Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME), World Health Organization, International Association of Medical Colleges (IAOMC), etc.



l. Establish productive affiliations with local and national hospitals and health care centers for internships, residencies, and fellowships for our medical students, residents, and junior faculty;


II. Develop productive partnerships with national and international accredited medical colleges/institutions for continued faculty and staff development


Faculty Recruitment & Retention:

I. Continue to develop departments in the Faculty of Medicine with recruitment and retention of world-class scientists and physicians;

II. Develop an annual faculty orientation program for new and existing faculty


Research and Scholarship:

I. Identify areas of growing medical need in the community and develop the required infrastructure to undertake research in that area;

II. Identify relevant "niche" areas in medicine and develop the required infrastructure to support world-class clinical care, research and education;

III. Encourage medical students to get involved and engaged in faculty-directed research and scholarship activities;

IV. Encourage faculty to obtain intramural and extramural grants to support on-going research;

V. Develop productive relationships with regional and national hospitals for clinical and translational research;

VI. Develop productive partnerships with national and international institutions to cultivate collaborative research projects in areas of regional and national needs.


Community Service:

I. Develop and sustain a strong and productive partnership with the community in the area of preventative health care;

II. Provide periodic updates about important impending and endemic health care issues to healthcare providers and to members of the community;

III. Organize health fairs that specifically address a growing healthcare need of the community;

IV. Encourage faculty, staff and students to perform volunteer services in community-oriented events
