Association of Genetic Polymorphism of IGF2BP2 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus among Saudis Patients in Tabuk city, Saudi Arabia Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a multifactorial disease that results from the interaction between multiple genetic and environmental factors Genome-wide association studies revealed many T2DM-associated genetic polymorphisms in various populations Among the genes polymorphisms that were strongly suggested to be associated with diabetes are IGF2BP2 The study of the polymorphism of this gene will be examined in 50 T2DM patients and 50 controls The two groups were genotyped for the gene polymorphisms using restriction fragment length polymorphism-PCR (RFLP-PCR) technique Therefore screening of this genetic polymorphism among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Saudi Patients will improve the treatment and management of Diabetes Mellitus
IGF2BP2, IL6 polymorphisms and their association among obese type 2 diabetes mellitus in Saudi Arabian population Abstract: Background: The study aimed to detect the association between IGF2BP2 and IL6 polymorphisms among type two diabetes mellitus Methods: This study involved 500 individuals 250 obese diabetes mellitus cases and 250 healthy control The PCR-RFL polymorphism methods was used to identify the genotype of the IGF2BP2 gene for the SNPs rs 4402960 (GT) and IL6 SNPs rs1800795 (GC) Results: The results indicated that the mutant C allele of the SNP rs1800795 variant was highly significant associated with the study group (p=0002)The occurrence of genotypes (C/G and C/C) vs normal G/G genotype of the IL6 variant was highly significantly (p= 0004) in the study group (492% vs 508%) compared to the control group (62% vs 38%) Similar findings were observed in SNPs for the rs440960 variant in which the T allele indicated a highly significant relationship (p=00001) with the study group, the frequency of G/G genotype vs both (T/T and G/T) genotypes were highly significantly (p=00001) in the case group (34% vs 66%), than in healthy control group (52% vs 48%) Conclusion: The current study indicated that IGF2BP2 rs4402960 and IL6 rs1800795 polymorphism were highly significant associated with the increased risk of obeseT2DM among the Saudi Arabian populat
