About US

Mission of the SRCU

To create a leading research environment conductive to high quality and innovative scientific research in Artificial Intelligence and their use in other research domains, transfer and commercialize their practical solutions to serve national and regional community.

Role of SRCU

The SRCU is one of the units that has been established in January 2021 under the Industrial Innovation & Robotics Center (IIRC). In terms of organizational structure, the unit is composed of some staff members and it reports to the Director. The unit also committed the support of distinguished faculty members and marketing practitioners in terms of collaboration when needed. From that perspective, the roles and responsibilities of the SRCU have been defined as follow:

·      Managing and/or establishing and conducting research projects whenever applicable.

·      Ensure that adequate facilities such as computing, laboratory equipment and funding for consumables and training are available for the approved projects.

·      Provide and report significant changes in research in terms of project deliverables (i.e. publications)

·      Develop research strategy and plan and develop mechanisms for implementation in unit.

·      Determine the priorities of scientific research in the unit to meet the     community needs in locally and nationally.

·      Approve proposals submitted by the center members and/or other entities (faculty members or postgraduate students), which work collaboratively with the SRCU. The unit has full rights to collaborate with some experts in the domain when needed.

·      Approve projects requested from outside the center in terms of estimated budget, working environment, forming teams and gives recommendations when needed.

·      Approve annual plan for research and the corresponding budget by assuring eligibility of expenditures and/or, seeking prior approval for budget changes or restricted expenditures of the SRCU.

·      Assisting and advising researchers in project and proposal development under the unit supervision.

·      Provide advices and recommendations for the Director for the agreement of terms and conditions stated by research sponsors.

·      Following-up the progress of the research projects inside the unit and gives recommendations to Director.

·      Ensuring compliance with all university policies and regulations, including the key policies and procedures relating to managing projects.

·      Ensuring a safe working environment for the projects under the unit supervision
